With Thanksgiving just around the corner, it’s usually a time for us to sit back, eat some turkey and appreciate what we have in life. And while family and happiness might top the list of things to be thankful for, it’s important to not forget the little things; like IT support, for example.
It’s a bit of a stretch, I know, but oftentimes providers of IT and managed services are overlooked. Continue reading as I shed some light on a few of the many reasons why we should be thankful for technology service providers (TSPs) and managed service providers (MSPs).
1. They Keep Business Up and Running
Managed services is all about bringing proactivity to IT support, with the goal of preventing problems before they even start. Much of an IT provider’s job entails regular, routine work; such as monitoring networks, updating software and performing other day-to-day maintenance. This work typically happens in the background, yet it’s all essential to keeping a business running like a well-oiled machine.
On a similar theme, the work MSPs do helps keep their clients on par with competitors and larger companies. Most small businesses can’t afford the luxury of having their own in-house tech support with a fully staffed team. An MSP can provide quick and efficient access to IT professionals and their skills, while also introducing and leveraging emerging technologies to help their clients stay ahead of the curve.
2. They Provide Increased Security
Did you know that 80% of SMBs are worried that they will be the target of a cyber attack in the next six months? It’s not entirely surprising if you think about it: cyber criminals have collectively recognized that SMBs make easy targets due to their lack of protection. But this is where MSPs have stepped in to help.
Staying on top of threats and mitigating risks are now critical pieces of an MSP’s workload. Whether it’s installing and maintaining firewalls, patching software or monitoring systems to ensure cybercriminals keep their mitts off sensitive data, there’s one thing for sure: MSPs have their clients’ back and are continuously working to secure their IT environments. As an added bonus, partnering with an MSP can give businesses enterprise-level security protections at a small business budget, which should certainly make for a peaceful holiday!
3. They Can Help Free Up Valuable Resources
Last but certainly not least, a partnership with an MSP means that they handle all the complex IT situations, while the client is free to focus on their business’ needs. Since MSPs act as a partner rather than a replacement for their clients’ existing staff, this allows for higher levels of productivity and the ability to refocus employees or resources on profit-generating activities.
In addition to the business efficiency that comes with partnering with an IT provider, many may also offer free training, resources or education to help improve their clients’ IT knowledge and ensure that their staff—as well as their systems—are performing at the top of their game.
