A Shout Out to All the SMB’s Out There!

Tomorrow is Small Business Saturday, and we wanted to take a moment to recognize all of the small businesses out there. While many people will literally stampede each other today to get the best deals for Black Friday, we should show the same enthusiasm for our local small business (minus the Mufasa treatment, of course).

Small businesses are the backbone of our economy. The US Office of Advocacy defines a small business as a company having fewer than 500 employees. SMBs account for over 29 million of the businesses in the United States, and represent about half of the workforce. They have also accounted for over 63% of the net new jobs created since 1993, which totals over 14.3 million jobs.

Nearly all of Continuum’s partners are small businesses. Additionally, nearly all of their clients are small businesses. Needless to say, small businesses are important to Continuum and we wanted to show our support!

What is Small Business Saturday?

Small Business Saturday began 4 years ago on November 27, 2010. It was originally developed and promoted by American Express, and takes place the Saturday after Thanksgiving. The “Holiday” encourages shoppers to visit brick-and-mortar stores to support local small businesses. 

With so much money, attention and advertising that go into Black Friday, it’s important that we support our local businesses and help contribute to their success. So take some time tomorrow to get out and support the mom & pops shops in your neighborhood and town. They’re important to our economy, they’re important to our communities and they’re important to our everyday lives.
