HEY THERE! I’VE TRAVELED TO HOUSTON, PENNSYLVANIA, AND NOW THIS WEEK I’VE BUNDLED UP AND MADE MY WAY TO THE ARCTIC…. OOPS. OKAY, YOU CAUGHT ME; I’M BACK IN THE BOSTON STUDIOS FOR THIS WEEK’S EPISODE OF IT REWIND!
THAT’S RIGHT; I’M BACK IN BOSTON. BUT YOU DON’T CARE WHERE I AM, YOU JUST WANT THE NEWS; SO, LET’S GET TO IT.
ACCORDING TO A RECENT STUDY BY HELP NET SECURITY, 76% OF CORPORATIONS HAVE SUFFERED A DENIAL OF SERVICE OR “DNS” ATTACK. MORE THAN HALF OF THOSE WHO HAVE SUFFERED AN ATTACK REPORTED LOSING CRITICAL DATA OR REVENUE AND A THIRD OF THOSE WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED DNS ATTACKS REPORTED LOSING CONFIDENTIAL CLIENT INFORMATION. SO, WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR YOU? IT MEANS THAT YOU NEED TO BE TAKING EVERY PRECAUTION TO PROTECT YOURSELF AND YOUR CLIENTS FROM THESE DENIAL OF SERVICE ATTACKS. PUT AN EMPHASIS ON SECURITY AND MAKE SURE THAT YOUR SYSTEMS ARE PROTECTED.
GOOGLE IS INCHING CLOSER TO OFFERING USERS A TOOL THAT WILL ALLOW THEM TO FULLY ENCRYPT MESSAGES. THE TOOL AIMS TO SCRAMBLE MESSAGE BEFORE THEY ARE SENT AND KEEP THEM ENCRYPTED UNTIL THE RECIPIENT DECODES THEM. ALEX STAMOS, YAHOO’S CHIEF SECURITY OFFICER, IS ASSISTING ON THE PROJECT AND ALTHOUGH THE TOOL ISN'T CONSIDERED TO BE CLOSE TO A MAINSTREAM RELEASE, GOOGLE IS HOPING TO PROVIDE THE END-TO-END ENCRYPTION TOOL SOMETIME NEXT YEAR.
EARLIER THIS WEEK, CONTINUUM CELEBRATED ITS 36TH CONSECUTIVE SOFTWARE RELEASE. SOON AFTER ITS INCEPTION BACK IN 2011, CONTINUUM COMMITTED TO OFFERING ITS PARTNERS A PRODUCT RELEASE EACH AND EVERY MONTH BASED ON THEIR FEEDBACK. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF THOSE WHO WERE A PART OF MAKING GOOD ON THAT PROMISE.
WE’RE ALMOST OUT OF TIME ON THIS WEEK’S EPISODE OF IT REWIND BUT BEFORE WE GO I WANT TO INVITE EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU TO REGISTER FOR OUR UPCOMING WEBINAR WITH JIM LIPPIE FROM CLARITY CHANNEL ADVISERS. THE WEBINAR IS CALLED “THE 2015 GUIDE TO SUCCESSFUL CLOUD STRATEGY” AND WILL BE HELD ON JANUARY 21ST AT 2PM.
