As a Storage Analyst you work as part of a team that provides operational support for storage systems and requirements in the Corporate Datacenter. The Storage Analyst team is also responsible for communicating to management the operational status of the storage environment including performance, capacity, availability, failure rates, and other performance metrics. Key Responsibilities

As a Storage Analyst you are responsible for performance analysis, proactive troubleshooting and capacity planning for the storage environment. Your specific areas of responsibilities include:

  • Provide in depth working knowledge of data center solutions specifically Flexpod  technologies.
  • Provide strong working knowledge of virtualization as it relates to storage.
  • Perform monitoring and maintenance of overall storage environment.
  • Manage online data backups and the overall execution of retention policies.
  • Provide capacity planning, provisioning and evaluation of data layout on a daily basis.
  • Update process documentation and team websites.
  • Ensure documentation of entire storage environment and data replication relationships are current.
  • Work with peers/vendors on review of entire environment and executing initiatives to reduce failures, defects and improving overall performance.
  • Participate in a 24x7 on-call duty rotation.
  • Communicate with internal customers, peers, and managers regarding storage administration issues. 
  • Manage equipment tracking (e.g. racking, decommissioning, etc.).
  • Perform off-hour change controls. 
  • Work with experienced Systems Analysts on maintenance of environment.
  • Provide instructions and guidance on best practices to junior members of the team.
  • Use scripting languages to automate tasks and gather data.
  • Engage with on-site vendors on a need basis. Degree and scope of engagement with vendors will depend on the project.
  • Understand and Implement of Backup /Recovery & DR Technologies using different storage solutions.

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of 5-8 years of experience is required; with a minimum of 3-5 years of NetApp Storage experience, including Virtualization experience.
  • Bachelor of Sciences Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Sciences, or related technical field is required; or equivalent experience.

  • Must have experience designing, implementing and supporting NetApp Flexpod technologies
  • Advanced Technical Certifications including knowledge of virtualization, networking, storage, and compute platforms.
  • Demonstrated ability to have completed multiple, moderately complex technical tasks.
  • Experience in a large data center with multiple terabytes of storage.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; including documentation.
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.

Knowledge of:

  • TCP/IP networking
  • NFS
  • NIS
  • DNS

  • Efficient user of Microsoft Office tools including Excel, Word, Outlook and Visio.
  • Knowledge of WAN data replication techniques.
  • Ability to work a 24x7 on-call rotation schedule.
  • Ability to work in any shift including nights, weekends and holidays as required.

  • NCDA (NetApp Certified Data Administrator Clustered ONTAP)
  • NCIE-SAN (NetApp Certified Implementation Engineer Clustered ONTAP)
