Win New Clients and Revenue With the HIPAA Assessment Tool, Powered by RapidFire Tools [Webinar]

Helping clients become HIPAA compliant can be a daunting process. Many MSPs struggle with finding the time and resources needed to get started. However, the opportunity to win more clients and revenue cannot be ignored, especially if a significant portion of your client base operates in the health care vertical. More importantly, you're legally required to provide this layer of security if you serve these clients.

Currently, as defined by the US Department of Health and Human Services, the HIPAA Breach Notification Rule “requires covered entities and business associates to provide notification following a breach of unsecured protected health information.” Now that business associates are also held accountable, MSPs are required to be HIPAA compliant to minimize risk in case of a security breach. Did you miss me? After a couple of weeks off, we’re back. Get ready to get caught up on the latest news from the world of IT. THIS is IT Rewind!

A popular WordPress plugin has over 5,000 e-commerce websites at risk. The vulnerabilities in the plugin can be exploited in order to compromise customer data, execute arbitrary PHP code and perform cross-site scripting attacks. The vulnerable plugin is TheCartPress eCommerce Shopping Cart. The latest version of the plugin is definitely vulnerable, and researchers say prior versions may have been as well. Since support for TheCartPres eCommerce Shopping Cart will end on June 1st, it is unclear as to whether or not a patch will be released.

Google is taking measure to provide defense against phishing. A new extension for the Google Chrome browser called “The Password Alert” extension encrypts and stores a version of the users password and warns that person if the password is typed into a site that isn’t a Google sign-in page. Phishing sites can be very difficult to recognize as attackers aim to replicate legitimate sites right down to the domain name.
